Koalifications by Neat and Tangled: Valentine's Day Blog Hop

Hello everyone!! I'm so very excited to be sharing this project I did using Neat and Tangled's Koalifications stamp set.  This little cutie had me the moment I laid eyes on him, and I knew I would have a great time creating Valentine's Day cards.  I had two ideas swirling around in my head for my cards; one traditional and one not-so-traditional.  So I said, what the heck, 2 is better than 1 anyway!
The First card in this more tradional, or old fashioned (whatever you prefer) color scheme, pulling from some older designs we used to do all the time.  I remember when I first started making cards, layering was the business!  That was where it was AT!  The more layers you could do, the better the design! Well things have changed a little bit but I still appreciate a good mat on top of a mat on top of a mat! lol
I chose a gray/brown color for my Koala and used my Spectrum Noir Alcohol markers to color him in.  One thing I realized doing that was this amazing use for that big end of the marker....I mean who uses that end...like ever?! So guess what, crafters, it's GRRRREAT for coloring large images.  Noted! My Spectrum Noir chart is super helpful for finding colors to use because the caps don't always match the color...because well, why would they!? :)  I used a Darice Embossing folder to achieve that wood texture to the heart die cut.  Then I decided to cover that with some lovely Distress Oxides in both the Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain.  I finished this card with a wonderful sentiment and some glossy accents over his cute nose!
The next card was so so fun to do!  I love using those dreamy colors of  Distress Oxides!  They are so wonderful, and smooth, and creamy!  Why am I thinking of chocolate ice cream right now! Ok, focus!  Once I got a good blend between the Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry Oxide inks, I did the water reactive technique, spraying it with water and then picking it up with a paper towel.   LOVE that look! I used a stitched rectangle die on white cardstock to lay on top of a white card base.  I thought that lent to a clean and simple card, which is about the closest I'm going to get one! HA! I finished her off nose with glossy accents as well, and added Sakura Gel Pen in black, to both of their eyes!
I hope you liked these projects!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy Valentine's Day!!!
